Little Bear Westsail 32 refit: Removing old backing plates Blog #93

Arrrrr me hearties. Welcome aboard.

Paint! At long last I get to put some colour on the hull! It’s so satisfying to see the boat starting to look like someone cares about her. The first step is 4 coats if Interlux Interprotect. The product is a 2 part epoxy style application. It was fairly warm out so I started at the stern on the starboard side. By the time I got to the stern on the port side the product was already cured enough for another coat. I had to really hustle as the pot life was quite short – about 30 minutes in the pan before it started to glob up and leave lumps on the surface.

So that was day 12 of the refit intensive. I find that I’m tired a bit worn out but I have the satisfaction of a job well done.

As always fair winds, following seas, and God bless.
